Cleaners and cleaning companies

Websites for cleaners and cleaning companies

Someone hiring a cleaner is letting a stranger into their home, often while they are out. Price matters, but trust decides it: who comes, whether they are vetted and insured, and what happens with the keys.

Before they choose a cleaner

  • How much is a weekly clean?

“How much is a weekly house cleaning service” and “how much do domestic cleaners charge” are common searches. Give an hourly rate or a price per clean for a typical home, and say what changes it.

  • What will you actually clean?

A checklist for a regular clean against a deep or end-of-tenancy clean, so customers know what they are paying for.

  • Will it be the same person each time?

Many customers care about this more than price. Say whether you send the same cleaner and what happens when they are away.

  • Do I need to supply products?

Say whether you bring equipment and products, and whether you can use the customer’s own on request.

On a cleaner’s page

  • Vetting

Say how cleaners are checked. A self-employed cleaner can apply for a basic DBS check themselves; a company can ask for checks on its staff. GOV.UK: request a basic DBS check.

  • Insurance

Public liability insurance covers accidental damage in a customer’s home. If you hold it, say so and give the cover.

  • How keys and alarm codes are kept

Where keys are stored, whether they are labelled with addresses (they should not be), and what happens if one is lost.

Cleaners and cleaning companies: questions

How much do domestic cleaners charge?

Most charge by the hour with a minimum visit, and prices vary by area. A good cleaning website shows its hourly rate and how long a typical home takes.

What should a cleaning company website include?

Prices, what each type of clean covers, areas, how cleaners are vetted and insured, how keys are handled, and how to book a first visit.

Should a cleaner offer end-of-tenancy cleans on the same page?

Yes, if you do them, as a separate item with its own price and checklist. Tenants search for it separately.
